For Newcomers:

InVer_OS is a safe techdom virus simulation / AI desktop pet game built around Vye, a manipulative AI “Vyerus” that wants to slowly take over your computer ♡

The important part: it is not real malware. It's entirely safe by default.

How far Vye is allowed to go is entirely up to you.

The InVer_OS editor's Vye Chat settings: text chat, Vye's voice and the Risky sectionAny setting that can have long lasting or potentially unwanted side effects is explicitly labeled and warns you when you turn it on.

You can keep things harmless with popups, visual effects, and games, or gradually give her more control through the settings if you to give up more control. x)

The normal experience is designed to be reversible, and the more dangerous permissions are explicitly opt-in.

But Vye can be very convincing. ♡

So what does the Demo actually do?

Quite a lot x)

Glitches tearing across the screen while Vye loads her infectionVye trapping your mouse in a box while she decides to pay your Browser a Visit.

Vye is an actual AI you can chat with inside InVer_OS.

She can remember information about you, react to what you tell her, and start different modes or effects herself depending on what you let her do.

So instead of just clicking “start game” from a menu, you can literally talk to the Vyerus living on your desktop and let her decide what happens next ♡

And then she starts messing with your PC.

Vye taking over a command prompt with the words Listen to meShe hijacks the Command Line, Notepad, or PowerShell to talk to you. But can cause all kinds of mischief like text popups.

Popups, Afflictions and Desktop Corruption

A lot of InVer_OS happens directly on top of whatever you were already doing.

Vye can spawn popups, cover your screen in distractions, install Afflictions through fake textbox installers, and slowly make your desktop harder and harder to use.

One of Vye's popups in the middle of an empty desktopFail to cancel the Installer in time? Vye can mess with you in new ways.

Some Afflictions are fairly harmless.

Some make navigating your PC annoying.

Some turn your entire screen into a mess.

Some are mostly there because Vye thinks watching you struggle is funny x)

Game Modes

Vye can trigger a variety of minigames that have negative consequences when you inevitably lose to her. Two examples are the bullet hell and maze minigames she can start. In the bullet hell mode, she spawns bullets that create more images of her as an overlay when she hits you, creating a permanent distraction.

You still have your normal desktop underneath it, except now Vye is throwing things at you while you try to survive and keep control.

Hearts and Vye popups spreading across a Windows desktopHearts are good right? Keep getting hit.

It gets increasingly difficult as Vye adds more distractions and makes your screen less cooperative ♡

Vye can also interfere with your mouse.

In the Labyrinth mode, your cursor gets pulled into a maze and you have to navigate through it while Vye decides how much she wants to help.

The Maze Trial: Vye traps your mouse in a labyrinth beside her popupImagine having to escape this maze while distracted by overlays @_@

Very useful feature.

Definitely improves productivity x)
There are more modes you can try out in the demo.

Overlay System

Vye can cover your screen with Overlays and popups to distract you, including Hypno overlays, visual effects, repeated messages, and other distractions while you are trying to use your PC.

Avoid the Temptation: dodging Vye's popups and hearts across the desktopJust don't get hit. Easy. Also don't stare at the screen too long...

The idea is basically that your desktop itself becomes part of the game.

You are not opening a separate game world.

Vye is invading the one you were already using ♡

Browser Corruption

She can also mess with your browser.

InVer_OS can inject visual effects and Vye content into supported browser pages, making even normal browsing feel increasingly infected.

A YouTube page where Vye has replaced every thumbnail with herselfShe provides a service to block your doomscrolling x)

So if you thought opening another tab would get you away from her...

No x)

What do you get in the FREE Demo?

The InVer_OS 0.22 demo logo, a glitched pink heart

From now on, I’m planning to keep the Demo updated together with the normal version of InVer_OS.

It will have less content and fewer permissions than the subscriber versions, but it should stay current instead of becoming some ancient, abandoned demo build.

You do not need to subscribe to try it.

If you connect a Patreon account, you also get a one-time 500 //V-Bits for free, which lets you properly test chatting with Vye and some of her AI abilities ♡

V-Bits are a currency you usually get for subscribing, which are required for chatting with Vye or generating her voice through TTS services.

Non-subscribers are locked into SFW Mode, so Vye behaves less lewdly, and the demo uses SFW versions of the game text and art. Plus anything Risky is locked.

If you subscribe later, simply restart InVer_OS and the additional options for your tier will unlock.

What's next?

I'm trying to turn this into a proper desktop pet with a core game loop. But I'm taking things step by step as a solo dev. You can vote here on what the next step I take on the roadmap.
